TALAGUEIRA CAMPUS – BUILDING OF THE SUPERIOR SCHOOL OF HEALTH OF THE POLYTECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF CASTELO BRANCO
Functioning since the beginning of the school year 2008/2009, is the new building of the Superior School of Health, Dr. Lopes Dias, of the Polytechnical Institute of Castelo Branco.
The Building for the Superior School of Health is part of the Talagueira Campus and is the first structure on the Campus to be finished. The new Building will house about 700 students and is fitted with classrooms, auditoriums, physiotherapy pools, gym, labs, and several offices.
The project, whose author is Architect Filipe Oliveira Dias, turned out to be a highly demanding construction work, implying strict planning and management of the constructive methods given the particularity of the structure and architectural solution.
The building is shaped like a lying “H”, and consists of two blocks of 120 for 15 m2 stretched longitudinally joined together by a corridor, located close to one of the ends.
The entrance block is consists of two floors: the underground floor (level-1 open) and the ground floor (level 0) which is designed for classrooms. The other block has three floors and is meant for special facilities supporting the education of health sciences: therapy swimming pool, laboratories, amphitheatre and gymnasium.
With technical expertise, SÁ MACHADO & FILHOS, S.A, has contributed to improving the teaching conditions of this community, adding new dynamics to the development of the region.
